Some really cool progress being made now! Karl has got the original 1820s tuyere and backing plate now in place, using all the original fixings and levels. _____
Looking at the back of the forge its mind blowing just how far out of line the original had leant! That top plate would have been horizontal originally! _____
We can't change it or pull it back straight due to the like-for-like agreement with the conservation office, so it'll stay like that within a safely vertical chimney! _____
We've also put the original corner bricks back in - they've been rubbed down on the corners by the arm of the bellows over time. Really nice to see these little details being retained in the new build.
