Back by popular demand, the perfect gift for you or somebody you know.
This workshop course will teach you the basic skills, information and fundamental practical knowledge to forge your own traditional small knife.
Starting right from the forge itself, you'll learn how to control and manage your fire, how to select your material and how to perform the basic hammer skills required to end up forging a functional knife complete with wooden handle.
For an additional cost, the knife can be forged from a laminated billet of wrought iron with a steel cutting edge, instead of a single piece of steel. I will prepare the billet before the course to ensure good starting stock, but we will cover the process of how it is made during the course itself.
The workshop will take place in my 1820s forge on the edge of the New Forest, and you'll be working on a traditional brick hearth with a charcoal and coal forge powered by original 1800s bellows. The knife you end up with will of course go home with you!
Book now and I will be in contact to discuss dates.
Hope to see you soon!
